About the Blog

Hello and thank you for stopping by The Thrifty Christy Blog!  I hope you find information and inspiration to help you on your path to becoming frugal and financially free.  My goal here at The Thrifty Christy is to share my family’s journey through budgeting, unexpected expenses, frugal living, having children, and GETTING OUT OF DEBT so that it can inspire you to do the same.

If you are looking for ways to better your life financially, then this blog is for you!  I share every day tips that can help you save time and money as well as personal finance information to show you step by step how to budget and get out of debt.  For years, my husband and I thought we had a “budget” when what we really had was a very pretty spreadsheet for tracking what we spent, with no limit on the spending!!! (<–CRAZY)   If this sounds like you, then you probably know how easy it is to eventually spend nearly every penny you work your tail off for.  I am going to hold myself accountable to you and I would love for you to go along for the ride.  We will both get to reap the benefits sooner than we think!

My name is Christy and I am married to my goofy husband Mitchell and we have a one-year old daughter who puts the smile on my face each day.  Aside from my home life, I am a college math teacher and wouldn’t have it any other way.  In fact, I took a pay cut to teach and left a job I enjoyed because I love teaching so much.  I will try to teach anyone math and it is my goal to make them like it, or hate it less I suppose.

I have found that most people are scared of Math and intimidated by it, much like with finances!   This stems from various places but most of all intimidation from math, like finances, comes from lack of understanding OR a bad experience.  My goal is to help people get past the confusion and bad experiences and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I have always been a frugal person but even if you are frugal and know everything you should do, you can still get into trouble.  I decided to start this blog to inspire other people like me; people that know what they should do (or maybe not) but have trouble on the implementation part, or the sticking to it part.  I hope the tidbits I share of my life inspire others to stay on the thrifty track so we can all live a financially free life and have less to worry about one day!
